Boxing Day Hunt - 2014

Crowds gather to see the send off of Boxing day hunt at the Castle Hotel Neath.

Despite the appalling weather, crowds turned out to witness the event, of the annual Banwen Hunt’s Boxing Day meet,
Hunt members gathered outside the Castle Hotel Neath where they have done so during the past 50 years.
This year they set off a new route, passing through Cadoxton, and an area near the Neath Golf club.
The Hunt’s joint master Nia Godsmark said “we had a good day and an impressive turnout in spite of the appalling weather we all managed to maintain the tradition within the law.

Banwen Miners’ Hunt was at first run by the colliery village of Banwen in the Dulais Valley, and though now as “cosmopolitan as any other hunt,
its kept its reputation of being the “working man’s “hunt.
