The switching of a town or city's Christmas lights marks the start of the festive season and there are plenty of displays planned around Wales for 2014.
Neath was going to be left in the dark, that was when people power decided to take it into their own hands to have their town lit up for Christmas donations were raised enough to bring Neath out of the dark and into the festive spirit, switch on was on the evening of Dec 4th it was dry with a chill in the air.
The large crowd which gathered to witness the "switch on"were all in festive spirit, who helped to make it a warm atmosphere,
the community of Neath raised enough money so the town could have it's Christmas lights switch-on this year.

The Swansea Pipe Band performed at the switch on of the Christmas Lights, as did the Army cadets with the beating of drums, also members of the cast from Aladdin ---Grant three Christmas wishes with the 2014 Penyrheol pantomime,
