Canal Wedding

"Wedding Barge"
A delightful scene on the Neath Canal greeted passers by on Saturday 25th October. Dressed overall with flowers, the Neath & Tennant Canals Preservation Society's barge 'Thomas Dadford' took local bride Anna Davies to her wedding at Llantwit church. It was Anna's sister who suggested this unusual mode of transport following an enjoyable canal boating holiday. While some can still recall Sunday School outings by canal boat, the Dadford's Bargemaster knew of no precedent for a wedding party arriving at St.Illtyd's by water. Starting out from Canal Quay by the Quakers Meeting House, the wedding party enjoyed a short passage up to Llantwit's ancient parish church which stands right next to Neath Canal. Even the sun broke through for this unique canal wedding trip as can be seen in this video clip: .....
