Giant veg at Tonna

Giant Pumpkins Galore at Tonna Show

Report and photos by Mike Davies

The Whittington Bar Society held its annual Pumpkin and Vegetable show in the car park of the Whittington Arms at Tonna on 4th October 2014. Aside from the giant pumpkin and other vegetable competitions, there were the usual stalls and raffles, plus classic cars to be seen.  A children's 'petting experience' with various reptiles added another exotic element to the occasion.

The show was opened by the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr. Hugh James, and another past Mayor, Keith Davies, auctioned off the vegetables after the judging had taken place.

The show was well attended in lovely autumn sunshine. Congratulations to the winners of the prizes for the best vegetables on show - some of these were truly amazing as can be seen in the photos. Thanks also to the many locals who participated in making this such a fun occasion.

Here are some of the winners receiving their presentations from the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr. Hugh James.
