Elvis Festival

Elvis Festival at Victoria Gardens 5th July 2014

This was a superb event well organized by the hard work of Sarah Maybery-Thomas.

The sun was on order, and it did not disappoint as it came out right on time.

The park was truly looking like Neath’s jewel in the crown with lawns and flowers to perfection

Thanks to the dedicated gardeners.

It was a packed event which was enjoyed by all ages with lots of toe tapping, jiving, and hip swaying to the music of the Elvis impersonators who had their own style of representing the  “King”of rock and roll,

Born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Presley came from very humble beginnings and grew up to become one of the biggest names in rock 'n' roll. By the mid-1950s, he appeared on the radio, television and the silver screen. On August 16, 1977, at age 42, he died of heart failure, which was related to his drug addiction. Since his death, Presley has remained one of the world's most popular music icons.

Our thanks to the following Elvis impersonators

Matthew Fletcher, Jimmy Elvis, Dave Smith, Mark James, Melin Elvis, Karl King

 And DJ PhiL Minty

Did you know that the only place Elvis was in the UK, was Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire, Scotland? His plane had to make an unscheduled landing to get a problem fixed. He may well

have visited the UK to perform at some point, but unfortunately his life was cut short.

The“King of rock and roll and his music will live on forever.

Enjoy the presentation here - put your sound up, full screen, and swing those hips and tap those toes.
