Twitter ye not

To Twitter or not to Twitter?

That is the question

At first the Heritage Scene Neath were delighted with the response from those who were interested in the new Twitter account set up by two heritage enthusiasts.

Then there was a moment of realisation as the penny dropped.   Many of those putting their name to the Heritage Scene Neath were only doing so to get noticed themselves.  Now, with so many 'alleged' interested people the group has to sort the wheat from the chaff.

It really makes us think how many groups and individuals really have a genuine interest in the heritage of Neath.   The test is: "Would they like to join the Neath Antiquarian Society for a modest £12 a year?"   That is the cost of membership for one year.

Currently the society is under threat due to funding cutbacks by Neath Port Talbot  Council - just like libraries in the County Borough.   BUT, here is the thing to note, if the Neath Antiquarian Society had 1066 new members they could be independent of any council funding.

This is certainly possible - so Twitter ye not - lets see if all those 'Twitters' are prepared to to join the society for only £12.    Think of all the satisfaction.   And if publicity is required, then that is possible too, because the society have a new website - and the links and publicity arising from that can be priceless.

Remember the old saying:  "As you give, so you will receive".
