Open doors at St Catwg

Open Doors at St.Catwg's Church

On the afternoon of Sept 22nd an "open doors" was held at St. Catwg’s Church, Cadoxton Neath.

Local historian, Martyn Griffiths, gave an informative guided tour of the churchyard of the oldest in the Vale of Neath.

Catwg church has beautiful stained glass windows, oak panelling and memorial plaques, including one dedicated to Johnie Leyshon who perished on the Titanic.

Baptism, marriage and burial registers were available, along with a database of burials in the churchyard.

Churches can be a place of wonderful historic learning, and this tour by  local historian Martyn Griffiths was without exception.   The event was well attended and we would like to thank all at St Catwg church for their generosity, and in particular local historian Martyn Griffiths for his wealth of knowledge.
