News for weeks 12 to 22

WEEK 12        28th November

A decent week with some nice scores and despite having to enter three blind scores on the night the weekly scratch average pushed up to 166. With a total of 15 x 200's (+7 x 190+ near misses), 4 x 600's and a 700 series, I think we can say we did well. So, those deuces - Jeff Campbell 269/237/202, Chris Kibble 248/225/213, Daren Knightsbridge 247/236, Scooby Roberts 232/204, Trevor Mandeville 224/204, Kevin Skepper 235, Paul Anderson 205and Eddie Taylor 203. The sex sets belong to Chris 686, Daren 653, Scooby 623 and Trevor 607 and the big seven was by Jeff 708. Well bowled everyone. Quick raffle update - now up to 59 prizes. So thanks to all who keep buying tickets.

WEEK 13         5th December

Another decent week with the weekly scratch average holding at 166. We had a total of 17 x 200 games (9 near miss 190's) a six set and a seven set. Those deuces - Dave Cooper 259/258/221 (738), Scooby Roberts 221/218 (613), Tom Snook 216/213, Kirstie Western 234, Alex Kimpton 232, Ivan Allem 224,  Darren Grimes 221, Craig davey 215, Trevor Mandeville 213, Layton Palmer 211, Steve Ferguson 204, Harley Guy-Sinclair 204 and Steve Lockwood 200. Well bowled everyone.

Just a polite reminder. Can you please take any rubbish ie. sweet packets, finger tape, ball cleaning wipes etc home with you or place it in the bins in the centre. Also, I noticed 4 lanes had residue from puff balls / hand conditioner on the seating area. The staff are not employed to clean up after you. Please tidy up after you finish bowling.

Raffle update with only 2 weeks to go until draw night. Prizes now stand at 75. Maybe me hoping to get to 100 is a little to much but there will certainly be a few more before the date. Thanks again for purchasing tickets and to the raffle queen for doing a sterling job.

WEEK 14        12th December

WEEK 15        19th December

The last night before the Christmas break and I'm going to start off the raffle. A massive thanks to all who participated because without your support it would not have been possible. We ended up with almost 100 prizes, which I think is a record for a Christmas raffle. Mega thanks to Jan Johnson (our raffle queen) for all the work she put in selling and tearing up the tickets. To Shirley Burt who assisted with the ticket tearing on the night. The draw itself was mainly done by Shirley and Andy Lewis. I, personally, can't thank everybody enough.

On to the bowling. Scratch average held at 162, with 17 x 200 games (7 x 190+ near misses) and 3 x 600 series. CHRISTMAS BREAK

WEEK 16         9th January

A happy new year to everybody. Hope you all had a good one. First week back after a break usually means a bit rusty, but that doesn't seem to have applied to this week. Our weekly scratch average went up by a pin to 163 and with 18 x 200 games and 7 x 600 series, I think I can safely say it was a very good week.

Those deuces - Chris Kibble 257/229/210, Jeff Campbell 230/213/204, Dave Cooper 226/224/200, Alex Kimpton 244/216, Max Slater 256, Dean Morgan 223, Sean Symes 216. Ben Harvey204 and Dave Montgomery 203. The six sets - Chris Kibble 696, Dave Cooper 650, Jeff Campbell 647, Alex Kimpton 637, Steve Lockwood 624, Max Slater 612 and Dean Morgan 604. Well bowled everyone.

A worthy mention for one of our bowlers although not in our league or centre. But on January 4th at Hollywood Bowl Crawley, Dave Cooper bowled a perfect 300 game. Well bowled Dave.

WEEK 17         16th January

A reasonable week considering the lack of bowlers. All available subs used and still had to use four blind scores. That being so, it's understandable that the weekly scratch average dropped to 161. However, there was no lack of 200 games, in fact 16 were recorded as well as 2 x 600 series. Those deuces - Alex Kimpton 233/224, Jeff Campbell 231/213, Trevor Hammond 223, Craig Wood-Ellis 214, Brian Mason 213, Neil Matthews & Steve Lockwood both 211, Ben Harvey 209, Scooby Roberts 208, Marsha Dalley 205, Ewan Biscoe 204, Sean Symes & Dave Cooper both 202 and Stuart Davis 200. The six sets belong to Alex 649 and Jeff 604. Well bowled everyone.

WEEK 18         23rd January

A decent week with the scratch average going up to 162. There were 15 x 200 games ( also 11 x 190+) and 5 x 600 series. Straight to those deuces - Alex Kimpton 265/217, Harley Guy-Sinclair 227/224, Ashley Easey 227/213, Jeff Campbell 225/224, Dave Cooper 221/214, Scooby Roberts 252, Max Slater 243, Bryan Harvey 228, Andie Burt 226 and Sean Symes 202. The six sets belong to Alex 680, Harley 647, Jeff 623, Scooby 614 and Dave 612. Well bowled everyone.

Just a reminder that this coming week are the last matches for the first half of the season and is one of the two weeks that we need to use all 18 lanes. NO BYES NEXT TUESDAY.

WEEK 19         30th January

The half way point of the season. It's tight at the top, not so tight at the bottom, but another reasonable week with the weekly scratch average holding at 162. There were a total of 17 x 200 games (10 x 190+ near misses) and 4 x 600 series achieved. Those deuces - Dave Cooper 269/206, Scooby Roberts 244/203, Jeff Campbell 231/228, Steve Ferguson 219/202, Dean Morgan 255, Marsha Dalley 236, Sean Symes 226, Max Slater 212, Chris White 212, Tristan Ferguson 211, Layton Palmer 206, Kate Harmsworth 202 and Mark Palmer 201. The six sets were by Dave 644, Dean 623, Scooby 622 and Jeff 607. Well bowled everyone.

For those that follow the Min Tully trophy (see appropriate link), the young guns are making headway up the leaderboard. Owen Burt and last years winner Bryan Harvey Jnr have made significant moves over the last 2/3 weeks. So look out you old guys (sorry seniors), they're after you.

WEEK 20         6th February
