The Scottish Government have decided that it is safe to restart Domiciliary (home) Eye Examinations.
Once confirmation has been received from Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board, we will be resuming home visits - hopefully within the next 2 weeks.
McBay Mobile Opticians would like to thank all our clients for their patience at this unprecedented time.
I have been busy preparing to restart - completing the Association of Optometrists’ Infection Control and Prevention Certificate, deep cleaning all equipment and frames and organising supplies of PPE and decontamination agents.
Home eye examinations will be a bit different as I strive to ensure your safety during this pandemic.
I will continue to prioritise emergency and essential eye care which will mean you may have to wait a while longer for a routine visit as I work through my backlog.
Remote consultation (either by telephone or video) will remain the norm
If I deem a face to face consultation is necessary I will be wearing new PPE for every visit.
We already maintained a rigorous cleaning and disinfection regime and this has been scaled up following Standard Infection Control Precautions and Transmission Based Precautions as set out in the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual. Please be assured I will be thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all equipment and frames between each home visit.
I will strive to maintain social distance where possible.
You will be requested to wear a face covering for the duration of my visit if at all possible.
But, most of all, I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing you all again.
Very best wishes.
Ann McBay, Principal Optometrist
