WHO ARE WE

Masham Young Farmers’ Club is one of eight clubs that form the Cledales District which stretches from the Cleveland Hills in the east to the Yorkshire Dales in the west, at the most Northern point of North Yorkshire before the county border with County Durham. Catterick, Great Smeaton, Ingleby Cross, Lower Wensleydale, Northallerton, Reeth & Thirsk YFC Clubs make up the rest of the Cledales District who all belong to the county of Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.

The Club is for people aged between the age of 10 – 26, who are interested in farming,  the countryside, fundraising for charities & basically having a real good time, may it be at local events, going to competitions or shows & dances. You don’t even need to be a farmer to join.

Throughout the year Clubs from the Cledales District (sometimes County) will compete against each other in various competitions, here is just a few to give you the idea.
Stock Judging; Tractor, Quad & Landrover handling; Cooking; Wood & Metal work; Sports & Public Speaking.

We at Masham YFC meet on a weekly basis on a Thursday Evening usually at 7:30pm in or around the market town of Masham, Ripon, North Yorkshire.

Masham YFC is now the largest club in the Cledales District but nearly ceased to exist back at the 2004 AGM as the main topic of conversation was should the club fold as it only had approx seven members. It was decided to give the Club another chance & since then the Club has steadily been gaining new members & now once again starting to play a big role in the local community e.g. holding various type of stalls from refreshments to games at local events like the Steam Rally, the Sheep & Victorian Fairs which are held in Masham.
We now have around thirty members with  constant interest been shown from potential new members.
