Fire Safety Information – Electrical Fires

  • Use Plugs Safely – too many plugs in one socket can cause a fire. One plug in each socket is best. This is very important for things that use a lot of electricity such as washers and electric fires.

  • Check for loose or broken wires. Check for hot plugs. If you find any take the plugs out of the socket and have them looked at by an electrician.

Tackling fire is a job best left to professional firefighters.
If you do have a fire, stay out and call the Fire Brigade.

Bedtime Checks

Close all inside doors as closed doors will slow down a fire.
Un-plug things that use electricity but not fridges & freezers                   Check the cooker is off
Do not leave the washer on at night
                              Turn off heaters
Put a fire-guard around the fire place
Check the doors to the outside are clear
Put keys where everyone can find them
