Obsolete Upvc Door locks

Unfortunately upvc door locks are not a universal fit, ive said this before and some of them are not even made any more. In the picture above the customers multipoint door lock had failed in the locked position and they were unable to open the door.
We opened the door to find that the multipoint lock which was a very old Mila was now obsolete in other words you cannot buy the full lock anymore, luckilly enough it was only the centre case that needed replacing and even this was a odd size being a 28mm backset when the norm is a 35mm backset.
Its when scenarios like this arise that its always best to call a locksmith as it can save you money in the long run. We managed to source a centre case in Atherton, Manchester went for it, returned and fitted the lock within a few hours. Its often the case that customers when they order a new lock to save money often order the wrong size lock or order a new model which will not fit the profile of the older lock and so have to buy another lock or call a locksmith to help them out.
