30 November 2011
CPD project meeting

5.15-7.00, Room 1 West 3.15 University of Bath, Thursday 1/12/11.

After we've caught up with each others news, writings, ideas and readings we shall check resources and postings in our 'Living Values, Improving Practice Cooperatively, Virtual Community Space'. Click login at the top right hand corner. If you want to join the project and access the other parts of the site such as the CPD Project Members Blog contact us. You will find Tara has begun her enquiry and has a draft of her question. She has begun to narrate some of her learning journey and Mark has responded.

Louise can't make it this Thursday’s meeting but we are hoping Tara can let us know about any videoing and we can post responses on the site so Louise can be present even though she cant make the meeting.

Mark writes, "I thought we might look at the Common Cause document posted to the Reading Room."  So please do check it out.

Penny may be able to make the Thursday evening sessions to share ideas on 5X5X5=Creativity and from her doctoral research programme. (Everyone can see details of 5X5X5=Creativity at http://www.5x5x5creativity.org.uk/ )

We are hoping Maureen will share her finished foreword for the special issue of the journal on Co-operative Learning and check that we all understand the 10 principles that can be used to distinguish cooperative learning. We are hoping that everyone will have time to browse through the August 2011 Newsletter of The International Association for the Study of Cooperation in Education at http://www.iasce.net/

Jack received a 2011 Council of Europe Publication on  'Constructing an Inclusive Institutional Culture: Intercultural competences in social services - A methodological guide' (Council of Europe Publishing). He will bring a copy on Thursday evening. What he is seeing as the major omission in the book is any understanding of the importance, for the construction of an inclusive institutional culture, of individuals generating and sharing their explanations of their educational influence as they hold themselves accountable for living their values as fully as possible in their practice. In other words it omits what we are focusing on!

If you click on http://www.actionresearch.net/writings/lhu/lhueyeprogjune2011video.pdf you will see the: Programme and video-clips of Early Years Educator's Conference in the Centre for the Child, Family and Society of Liverpool Hope University on the 23rd June 2011, Jack posted this week. We could think about organising a seminar/conference/working in the Summer Term to share our own accounts.
