On what looked like a beautiful summer's day Jim Thomson's triple, which this year included Ethel Norrie and Bill Rodger, lifted the Hope Paton Mixed Triples Title for the second year running.

The ties were made very difficult throughout the event due to the blustery conditions, and the winners were always going to be who could master the conditions, as well as play the better bowls on the day.

They had a very close first round match  needing an extra end to take the tie 6 -5 against Liz Pirie, Kip Fraser and John Dempsey. In the next round it was equally as close, until the last two ends,  before running out 8 - 4 winners against Marion Newton, George Norrie and Dennis Machir.

In the final they came up against Violet Wink, Margaret Coull and Oscar Hasteley, who had done equally well to reach this stage of the event, taking a few notable scalps on the way.

Unfortunately, the continuing blustery conditions put a damper on the final with both teams finding the going tough. In a close match both sides had chances to win it,  but Jim's team managed to hold on and ran out worthy winners.
