Who we are:

We are a new 'Friends' group of willing volunteers, who are keen to work together to help restore the walled gardens at Maristow.

The 3-acre garden is leased by Jenny Tunley Price who is aiming to restore the gardens over the next five years. Our newly formed 'Friends' group (April 2012) is on the lookout for people who would like to be involved in the restoration project, gaining experience and growing skills, so please email Jeremy using the link above if you are interested in volunteering.

We aim to:

• Undertake practical work to restore the walled gardens to full productivity.
• Facilitate the launch of a number of specific community projects, including working with the unemployed and ex-offenders, by improving the gardens and its facilities.
• Promote social inclusion by involving people from all parts of the community in the project and associated activities.
• Promote the benefits of healthy eating, educate about growing food and link people to where their food comes from.

We hope to run regular volunteer days at both weekends and week days, as well as host regular social events to promote social inclusion and community spirit. We also plan to organise regular seminars and workshops that members can attend for free to educate about food growing and related subjects.
