Indian Block Printing—Nigel Ginley

Using traditional handcarved wood blocks, provided for you to use, you will learn , how to create amazing images on a range of fabric items—tea towels, bags, aprons, napkins. Also a chance to experiment printing cards & wrapping paper.

£10 charge for materials, on the day to the tutor,, including a  quality tea towel to take  home with you. A range of  items will be available  to print on, or  you bring your own.

 

 


 

Colouring in  - exploring coloured pencil techniques—Jackie Cox

Using  different pencil brands and different surfaces we will discover the many ways you can use coloured pencils to make  interesting and colourful art.. Learn about the different hardness/softness of pencil brands, how to use colours to overlay for richness and depth, the use of mediums. Techniques to blend and the qualities of different papers. We will also try out and investigate watercolour pencils, inktense and graphitint pencils. There will be a charge on the day for materials. Bring your own pencils if you have them.

 

 

 

 


Wondrous ways with Rope– Sue Cheviot

Using different ropes and decorative thread/yarn you will learn the techniques of how to make bowls, coasters,  and many other items which can be further embellished with beads/wooden rings etc.  We will aim to finish up to 2 beautiful pieces to take home and hopefully inspire you to practise and experiment with  this lovely craft in the future. The tutor will make a small charge for materials used. 

 

 


Needlefelted Christmas decorations & Tomtes—Jackie Ginley

Using polystyrene formers and needlefelted prefelts for the basic decoration  or Tomtes ( Scandinavian gnome),  we will have more time to work on design features using a variety   of carded wools or merino wool.  There is no sewing at all.

All tools and materials are provided. There will be a small charge for materials, to the tutor, on the day.

 

 


Mixed Media Workshop  -Jackie Garner

This workshop will explore different methods of applying paint and papers, layering different techniques to build texture and create interesting surfaces. Students will produce a decorative panel  inspired by plants, butterflies and other insects. Although we will all use the same process to build the image, there will be plenty of opportunity for individual creative expression.       Suitable for beginners, as well as more experienced painters


Watercolour animal portraits—Kate Smith

You will learn all the stages required to produce a beautiful animal painting. If you are new to watercolour, I will show you how it is used to get the best results - with handy reminders for those more experienced in the medium. I will also show the pen and wash technique which works brilliantly for animal portraits.

      You may be keen to paint your pet, a wild animal, or even a bird - just bring along clear reference photographs. You may feel inspired to paint a humorous festive version of your pet to make Christmas cards!  Upon enrolling, you will be sent a list of materials to bring and some instructions - my aim is for you to achieve the most possible in one day whilst having an enjoyable experience.
