Foreign Trips

While the Club has not been in the habit of organising foreign trips as Club events, groups of us do go abroad together for skiing.

Over the years, groups of Club members have skied in Norway, Finland, Austria and Italy.

In 2015 a group of us went to Seefeld in Austria, with everyone booking separately to the same hotel with Crystal, also co-incided with 3 members of the Edinburgh STC, as well. There is a variety of skiing with 3 downhill areas, and an extensive network of loipe for track skiing, classic and skating, and uncut routes through the forests. It was so good that we went back again in 2016.

In March 2018 a trip went to Saariselka in Finnish Lapland, where the snow is reliably stable (same wax all day), and there is an enormous choice of cut and uncut loipes, some downhill slopes with uplift, and opportunities for backcountry skiing.

St.Johann was also reccied this year, and looks a good venue for future trips, with a variety of loipes and downhill slopes, with Kitzbuel a short train journey along the valley.

We are actively looking for a week or two when there could be reasonable packages to Europe for 2021. Nothing finalised as yet.
