Note Due to high temperatures and to reduce fish stress, the lake will be closed on certain days over the coming weeks to rest it before and after matches. There is a ban on keepnets for pleasure angling on all pools. Match anglers are advised to ensure all nets are dry before using, and to air them for an hour before placing in water before a match. No more than 40lb should be placed in a net and during weighing it is advised to use an unhooking mat under keepnet and not to tip fish down nets into weigh bag. A lot of the carp are getting sores which are taking time to heal due to the hot weather. Reducing stress and minimal handling will help fish to recover faster. A Savlon spray for wounds is good practise, this should never be sprayed on fishes eyes though. A quick spray before returning fish or to keepnet will help reduce secondary infection.
