EYDOH DOGS POLICY

  • Well behaved dogs are very welcome on walks but must be kept under effective control.  Please don't bring a dog if you are not able to control it
  • Long retractable leads must be kept short if there is a risk of the dog disturbing ground nesting birds or becoming a trip hazard to walkers
  • Dogs must be put on short leads whenever we walk near livestock or when signage requests that dogs should be on leads
  • If there is aggression between dogs and there is no satisfactory way of keeping them apart, the owner of one of the dogs may be asked not to bring their dog again
  • If a dog causes any problems with wildlife or livestock, their owner will be asked not to bring the dog again
  • Finally, please be mindful that not everyone is as comfortable around dogs as you are and please don't let your dog jump up on walkers or beg for food at the lunchstop

The Government's Countryside Code has useful guidance for taking a dog into the countryside in the "Keep dogs under effective control" section.  To have a look at it, copy and paste the following link into your browser:
