General Information

What to wear

As a minimum, you'll need walking boots, weather-appropriate clothing and a waterproof jacket.

Jeans are not really suitable for walking because if it rains they get very cold and heavy and may not dry out till after you get home.

If you have them, gaiters and/or waterproof trousers may be useful in muddy or wet conditions.

What to bring

A packed lunch & something to drink.

A foam sit-mat or waterproof sheet to sit on during our lunch stop

A small amount of money, sufficient to cover any parking charges and the cost of a teashop visit.

A rucksack to carry everything in.

In winter it's sensible to bring an extra top in case it turns out to be colder than you expect.

In summer  you need to make sure you bring plenty to drink as it's easy to become dehydrated if it's very hot.  Also, don't forget sunscreen.

Walking poles are not absolutely necessary but they do reduce strain on joints and can be very useful on steep slopes or in slippery conditions.

Dogs

Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but please check our 'Dogs Policy' page and note what is expected if you decide to bring your dog.

Transport

If you need a lift to the meeting place, please let us know and we'll see if we can arrange it.  You can either e-mail Jackie directly at eydoh@yahoo.co.uk or use the form on the 'Contact Us' page.
