The Edgworth Bowling Club

The Barlow Institute and Bowling Club 1965

The Edgworth Crown Green Bowling Club was founded in 1900 and has a non-discriminatory policy for Members. It is affiliated to the British Crown Green Bowling Association and registered with the various area league organisations in which we participate.

The Club is now self-financed and self-supporting, relying on all the Club Members for all the various duties required for efficient operation of the Club, including all Green Maintenance.

The Club has around one hundred members and provides bowling for all levels of skill from beginners to county standards. Once a month the Club hosts a social bowling event for the members and the events are well supported and enjoyed.

We are one of only three bowling clubs in the country who have achieved the highest award possible from ‘Sport England’ when we were awarded ‘Clubmark’ status and which was been sucessfully renewed in January 2018.

The Club has three qualified child protection officers and three first aid officers along with three fully qualified coaches, and other qualified individuals in various activities.

In the 2018 season, we again have a total of 11 bowling teams playing in 3 leagues in Bolton, 2 leagues in Darwen and 1 in Ramsbottom.  This enables all members of varied skill and experience the chance of participating in several games each week.
