Wednesday 7th July     Corbridge / Ladycutters' Lane circular  4 m

Easy walk over farmland, short gentle uphill stretch,with great views over Corbridge, returning along river bank.

Meet: Public car park by bridge south of river at Corbridge.

Wednesday 28th July    Swarland Circular      4 m

Forestry tracks and woods, some road walking. Views of Coast and Simonside.  Maybe deer, red squirrels and woodland birds.   

Meet: Vyner Park Car Park, Swarland.  From A1 (N and S bound) take Swarland turn off.  Turn left on Leamington lane and left at first crossroads – follow road until first turning left after Swarland Sq (past bus stop). Then left again to car park.

Sunday 1st August    Castle Eden Dene, Co Durham   7.5 m

Ancient woodland in natural gorge, with a range of native trees in a tangled mystical dene setting. With views of castle and some of surrounding area. Some steep inclines, slippery when wet.

Meet: St James Church (TS27 4SL) Castle Eden Dene. From A19 take B1281. Drive through village and after the cross take left turn for Blackhall Colliery then next left signed St James Church.

Sunday 15th August              Thrunton Wood                     9m

Plenty of ups and downs with quite a challenging scramble down Long Crag. Can be boggy. Spectacular views.

Wednesday 18th August       Ovingham/Ovington             4m

Ancient woodland through Whittle Dene, along the burn, with one very short, steep uphill stretch. Farmland and country lanes with fabulous views over the Tyne Valley.

Meet: Tyne Riverside Country Park, Low Prudhoe, just North of the railway crossing and south of OvinghamBridge.

Wonderful wild beach walk, dunes, grassy paths. Birds and maybe seals. Good views to Holy Island. 

Meet: Park just below Ross Farm. Head north on minor road towards Elwick, sharp right before Elwick Village

Sunday 19th  September    Sunderland Bridge & Shincliffe    7m                                  

Farm tracks and woodland, where steep descent can be muddy, otherwise fairly easy walking.

Meet: Sunderland Bridge. Take A167 South from Durham. Turn right onto B6300 signed Brandon, then quickly left. Drive over old bridge to far end of road.

Sunday 26th September        The Wannie Line                   6 ½ m

Mainly field and woodland paths and tracks, undulating but no steep hills, may be muddy after rain. This circular walk takes you onto both the Wannie and Rothbury railway lines, where trains once steamed carrying Wallington's stone, lime, coal and livestock, as well as passengers.

Meet: Car park behind the former National Trust regional office at Scots Gap, Nr Morpeth, Northumberland, 1 ½ miles due north and east of Wallington on the B6343.
