From the B6278 (Barnard Castle road) take the turning for Egglestone and head to Romaldkirk. Drive through the village on B6277 towards Cotherstone and take first right to Baldersdale. May 26th Howick/ Middleton along River Tees (10miles)

High Fells, south of the Tees, excellent views of upper Teesdale and Lunedale. With walk back along the river Tees from Middleton to Holwick. 10 miles Meet: Take Holwick road, signposted south side of River Tees from Middleton - in -Teesdale. After about 3 miles (past the pub on left), there is a steep hill. Soon after road levels off (after small road on right), there is (limited) space to park on the verge near the bench. A true feeling of isolation is experienced high up on Marrick Moor. A favourite walk of mine. April 13th   Corby Crags and Edlingham  (7 miles)

May 4th. Riding Mill to Corbridge Circular  (6.5 miles to Corbridge/ 3.5miles return)   

The route to Corbridge is mostly along fields and woodland paths with shorter sections on quiet country roads; there is a climb out of Riding Mill.  The route back can be by train or car (if you organise to leave one at Corbridge station) for those who want a shorter walk or along the river back to Riding Mill Station. A varied walk through woodland, open pasture and moorland with good views on a clear day, no steep hills. A visit to the cave where St Cuthbert used as a retreat to escape from his monks.
