TREASURER’S REPORT FOR THE 2020 SEASON

A copy of the audited Income & Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet for the year ended 31 December 2020 follows this report. 

INCOME

Income, excluding Donations, amounted to £6,748 a decrease of £1,289 (-16.57%)

Total permit income of net £3,024 shows a decrease of £1,653 (-35.34%). Member permits were down (-4.33%) and visitor revenue was down -100%. The committee decided that 2020 would be member only - as will 2021.

EXPENDITURE

Stocking

£2,774 was spent on stocking, a decrease of £1,327 (32.36%) over the previous year.

A total of 610 rainbow/blue fish, weighing 1,248lb were stocked in 2020 compared to 1,290 fish weighing 1,736lbs in 2019. The fish were generally bigger in 2020 as they could not be delivered earlier due to Covid restrictions.

Lease

Lease costs were unchanged. However I must record that William Thomson forgave us the rent for 2020 because of Covid and the disruption to the access to his lochs by the SSE project. We were also given a 50% reduction on the Loch Brora lease due to the disruption to the fishing on the Brora system.

Repairs and Maintenance

The repairs & maintenance costs increased to £1,031.00 (+2414.%), as provision was made for stones ordered for the Lannsaidh road repairs and we are looking to engage a whin cutter for the Lannsaidh road.

Commission

The Eagle Hotel has completed another year as the club’s agents for issuing permits. Thanks again to Eric and Suzie.

The commission due to them is £391.50. Eric kindly opened the reception for permits and keys during lockdown.

FIXED DEPOSIT

The lack of deposit facilities being offered by our bankers continues. The club’s surplus funds are still invested, in my wife's name, to produce a return and the security remains in place. The current deposit matures in early 2020. Rates are expected to remain low in line with their current levels.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY

The profit for the year amounted to £905 compared with profit of £24 for the year to December 2019. The 2020 season was effected by Covid 19 with no visitor permits sold. Weather wise, though slightly less anglers ventured out, stocking was less as the season was shorter and there was no point in feeding the cormorants over the winter. I was able to depreciate £75 (£1,747 in 2019) as the club now has only nominal book value shown for assets.

Net Current Assets at December 2020 amounted to £20,935 compared with £20,030 at December 2019.

The club is indebted to Mr Nicholas Harding who kindly gave his 15’ larch built boat and trailer to the club

SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PERMITS

I have to compile my report ahead of the Auditor’s scrutiny and last year I recommended no increases.

With the financial situation of the club as detailed above, I am pleased to recommend no change for the 2021 season from the current tariffs, apart from one minor one, for Lannsaidh permits to round up to £10 for bank and £15 for boat/1 rod.

The Annual Membership tariff would therefore remain:

£  3.00 for Juniors under 18, who must fish with an adult;

£25.00 for Adult members;

£20.00 for even more experience aged (65+) Adult members.

Members are reminded that the Annual subscriptions are due at the AGM, but can be paid direct to the Treasurer.
