Trophies and Guidelines
DORNOCH & DISTRICT ANGLING ASSOCIATION
Guidelines to determine the outcome of the Association’s outing winners and the ongoing yearly category recipients.
STAN TUER TANKARD
Evening Competition based over three nights on Loch Lannsaidh (first Friday in May, June & July) with a four fish limit, to be weighed-in. The combined heaviest catch over the three nights will secure the trophy.
Also based within these evening sessions, the Willie Skinner Trophy will be awarded for the heaviest individual fish landed over the three outings.
Each evening winner will receive a club voucher for a free day’s fishing on any club loch.
ANNUAL CLUB OUTING
We have been at various venues over the past few years. Currently we fish Loch Brora which mainly has a taking population of smallish brownies (and others) which the club does not want see killed. Therefore, all fish caught, (including sea-trout) are measured for a points system with the highest points total at the end of the day securing the Association Cup.
As has happened this past season (2019) we had a situation of two members recording the same points total but the better class of fish (ie 7 as against 11) prevailed. After considerable debate & discussion in committee since then, the consensus of opinion was that the greater number of fish caught was of more merit than fewer bigger fish.
Within the above outing, the highest scoring trout or sea-trout on the measure stick will win the ERIC ROBERTSON PRIEST.
The (possibility) of the heaviest or only salmon caught during the outing will receive a new trophy(given by the club and presented annually) as their reward.
NO FISH FROM THIS OUTING WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR ANY END OF SEASON AWARD.
THE SANDY BANKS TROPHY
Will be awarded to which ever member who has caught the heaviest verified rainbow trout during the course of the season at Loch Lannsaidh, except competition evenings).
THE KENNETH WHITSON TROPHY
Will be awarded to which ever member who has caught the best verified fish from Loch Brora only, during the course of the season, whether it maybe salmon, sea-trout or brownie, BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY FISH TAKEN DURING COMPETITION DAYS ON THE LOCH, INCLUDING THE CLARKSON OUTING.
THE JUDY GOZZETT TROPHY
Will be awarded to whichever member who has caught the best verified brownie from any club loch during the course of the season (except Loch Brora on competition days).
The main aim of these guidelines above, is to ensure that a particular fish does not give grounds for winning more than one trophy throughout a season.
