This web site supports an open-source audio construction project called the cics Memory Player or cMP² (the name derives from its instigator’s nom de plume, cics).

It provides access to the necessary freeware and to a project manual.

The manual describes in detail how to build and configure a PC so that it matches and arguably exceeds the performance of the best CD transports.
