Charlie’s Trawlermen series was transmitted in September 2012 in three 50 minute parts. The 4th part is about how the filming was done and features quite a lot of Charlie. Trawlermen achieved audiences of over 3.5 million (with exceptionally good audience appreciation rates for a 'factual;' series). These figures were considered very good in view of the fact that the first part was transmitted against the England v Croatia match on ITV and other league football coverage against each of the other parts. Charlie next factual series was about Stock Car Racing, which went quite well because the characters who do this are very rough and don't mind being filmed being rough!
On the 15th February 1997, four days after his 28th birthday, Charlie married Sally Boissier-Wyles in Ribblesdale. They now live at Offord Cluny, near St Neots, Cambs. They have three sons (note the names of Charlie’s great grandfather, whose favourite brother was Wilfrid):-
