A "Family Record" shows that John (Bonham) Clay was born in Hampstead on 26 January 1928, the only son of Harold (Bonham) Clay and Helen Frances O'Malley.

John worked for the Bank of england.

He never married.

John was at the Golden Wedding party of his cousin Gervas Clay at Ford Lodge, Wiveliscombe, in September 1989,

John died on 10th February, 2021, aged 93.  His nephew Andrew George wrote,

"My uncle John Bonham Clay died suddenly on 10 February, aged 93. He was the last of the Bonham Clays. His heart failed him in the end. After ten months of shielding alone, with only whisky for company, I think he was very relieved thus to get out of lockdown, even by the most final and irreversible of escape routes."

"Family tradition" says his father was married to one Hellen Ridler Davies. However, no substantiation has been found. Certainly, there is a woman of that name - born in Montreal and died in New York, and married to someone else - one Frank Johnson.

All very mysterious !
