Clanranald Cottage.

This charming stone cottage is just a 5 minute stroll from Eigg Pier and overlooks a picturesque tidal bay, the pier and has views to the mainland beyond. The pier buildings complex (An Laimhrig) houses Eigg Shop and Post Office, Galmisdale Bay licensed tearoom and Eigg Craft Shop. Eigg Bike Hire and a minibus taxi service to the rest of the island also operate from this area. Eigg Community Hall, which hosts many musical events and craft fairs during the summer, is only ten minutes walk away.

The front door of the cottage enters the main room, which has a kitchen, dining area and comfortable seating area. The sofa folds down to make a double bed. The kitchen is well equiped with gas cooker and hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster and all items necessary for self catering. There is also a small washing machine. A rear door exits from the main room to a gravelled patio with a table and chairs, allowing you to enjoy eating and relaxing outdoors in the sunshine. At the front end of the main room is a large picture window that provides stunning views over the bay, the pier and the distant mainland. You can watch the sun rise, the boating activities, the ever changing ebb and flow of the sea and the birds associated with the shore. The garden surrounding the cottage is an active market garden, with fruit, vegetable and salad crops being grown. There are also a few chickens. Produce from all of these may be available for purchase.

Behind the main room are a bedroom and shower room. The bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, so it can sleep up to three but is more suited to two people. With the sofa bed the property will sleep up to 5 people.

Dogs are welcome. You can bring bicycles or hire them once here if you wish. Eigg shop can take grocery orders and have them ready for you on arrival.

There is a radio, a jigsaw puzzle, some games and a few childrens toys.

There is a sandy beach on the opposite side of the bay.

Eigg can offer many activities, such as walking (including guided nature walks with a Scottish Wildlife Trust warden), cycling, boating, sea and fresh water fishing and archery.
