In a gripping competition against five other villages from South Skye, Camuscross was the worthy winners of the Woodward Challenge Cup in the Tug of War competition at the Crofting Olympics on Saturday 23rd August.

In a competition featuring strong teams from Duisdale, Breakish, Tarskavaig, Ardvasar and Kilmore, the Camuscross team didn't lose a single pull, and had to pull a back-breaking 7 pulls to win the competition.

The cup was last presented in 1937, when Isle Ornsay won the tug of war at what was then the South Skye Highland Games.  It is assumed that the games then stopped because of the second world war and the cup next turned up in a bin in Inverness.  The binman who found it in the 1970s returned it to Isle Ornsay, where it has sat in the bar until the momentous moment on Saturday when the Camuscross team rightfully re-claimed it with their show of strength.
