Camuscross Crofting Olympics

Empty that wheelbarrow, pull on your wellies - you only have 6 days to practise until the first Camuscross Crofting Olympics.

Taking place on Saturday 23rd August in the field beside the junction to Isle Ornsay, events kick off with a tractor parade, led by pipers leaving from Isle Ornsay at 2pm - join the procession by walking at the back or be at the field to cheer the procession when it arrives.

There will be various races including sack races - tattie sack for children and one tonne bags for adults; potato and spoon and the spectacular Pintathlon - athletic and daring feats over a crofting assault course while carrying a pint.

There will also be a Small Hill Race for the more serious runners - up a short distance on the Duisdale Hill with a small cash prize!

Other events and attractions will be Wellie Boot Throwing, Beat the Goalie, displays about the history of Camuscross and what Camuscross Community Steering Group has been up to.

There will be teas and baking, a barbeque and a refreshment tent and the chance to buy tickets for a monster raffle.

If it's raining, bring an umbrella and wellies!

In the evening there will be a dance to the Kyle Ceilidh Band, starting at 8pm until late, with some local performers.

Keep an eye out for more info on the website and advertised locally.

All proceeds go towards community developments.
