Week 10th to 16th July

The week got off to a bad start when on Sunday there was no play possible in the Annual seniors Dan Turner Trophy competition due to almost continuous rain showers. It's hoped that it can be arranged some time later in the season.

The Seniors game against Victoria on Monday was conceded by the opposition due to the death of one of their members. The resultant 4 points awarded to us puts us back in second place in the league following our closest rivals all dropping points in their games.

On Tuesday the ladies played their fixture in the Margaret Morrison triples competition but they lost to opponents Gartsherrie on shots after both home teams won their matches.

On Wednesday both teams were at home in the Lanarkshire Leagues. In Div 4 we took 4 points off Raploch and the Div 14 team took maximum points off Carluke. There is now a two weeks break during the Glasgow Fair holidays.

It's Official... Caldercraig 2 have been promoted to the top division as runners-up to Glengowan. Whifflet were in third place only 1 point behind us. Well done to both of our teams. Next season should/could be quite exciting, especially the first game when we meet head to head.

On Thursday evening the gents section had more success when they beat Airdrie Central 3 - 0 in the District Final of the Top Six competition. We await news of the venue and our next opponents in the County semi final which is scheduled for next Thursday.

All members should note that the Fair Shield competition starts next Tuesday. The draw will be made and posted on the club notice board by Monday evening.
