League & Other Results week commencing 22nd May

On Monday afternoon on a beautiful day the seniors visited Victoria for their league game but the results did not go well for us, even after a good start. Rink 1 achieved a tied game but the 2nd rink lost by 1 shot.

In the evening, Derek Phillips travelled to Wrangham Hall in a rearranged game where he played the West End player in the LBA singles. He had a good win.

On Tuesday evening the green was full with both gents teams at home in the Airdrie & Coatbridge Leagues. The division 1 side lost by a 2-5 score-line to Airdrie Central but there was a much better result for the 2nd division team who won all three of their games by a substantial score and collected full points 7-0.

The Caldercraig ladies team were at Airdrie BC where their opponents were the Airdrie 2nd team. The points were shared with a 1 game each scoreline but the host club earned the extra point as their shots difference was greater than their visitors.

Wednesday 25th - The LBA Triples which was rained off last Thursday was played this evening at Holytown where our representative had a fairly tight but ultimately successful evening. Meanwhile Jim & Janie were back in action in the Mixed Pairs at Orbiston. After a very close game our champions lost to their hosts by a margin of 1 shot after 17 ends.

On Thursday it was the turn of our senior rink to take centre stage at Garrowhill in the LBA championships. The game was played against a rink from Gartcosh but our lads had a comfortable win and now progress to the district semi-finals at Coatbridge next Thursday. In the evening Derek Phillips had a very impressive game at Airdrie against Willie Harkness from Glengowan and he gave his vastly experienced opponent quite a scare, losing out by 20-21 after lying game with only one bowl to come. Well done Derek and commisserations from us all. Also at Airdrie our triples continued in their quest for glory by beating their opponents.

On Friday night Jim Purves had a good win over Alan Stewart from Glengowan in the BS Singles but our Rink went out in their game at Victoria. These results leave Jim Purves as our sole representative in the District Semi-finals.
