Our 2009 recipe competition has been won by Paula Sime of Rosemarkie for her delicious and simple recipe for Beetroot Brownies (the beetroot sweetens the cake naturally and provides a lovely moist quality, rather like the carrots in carrot cake). 

Copies of Paula's recipe will be available by the end of this week from Ryefield Farm Shop, Fortrose Farm Shop and Comfort Foods in Rosemarkie if you'd like to try it for yourself, and may well appear on the menu at The Anderson in Fortrose at a later date!

Just one little hint though, make sure it's fresh beetroot - not pickled!!
