Playing at Daluaine House Open Garden Day

by Mike Beattie - 21:58 on 26 July 2008

Well we're roasting and toasting at the moment here in Grampian (or at least in this part of Grampian...if you are unlucky enough to be too near to the coast to get a haar then it won't have been quite as hot as inland). Quite a contrast to last Sunday when we played in the delightful setting of Daluanie House Garden.....even on a wet and windy day in high summer it is just that, a delightful garden. Despite the high speed gusts of wind which demanded a good strong paper-clip to keep the music from blowing away, and the sometimes near horizontal rain (well it felt like that at times) and a slightly leaking gazebo which meant that one member's music became a little damp, we really enjoyed the afternoon. As for the weather, well what do you expect from British summer?

We were pleased to read that the event raised over £1800 for local charities including Rhynie Hospital, repainting the village clock and sums to be distributed to local youth groups, so well done Phyllis Beverley and all the other people who helped.....and a sincere thank you from the Alford Fiddlers for asking us to come and play for you, we really enjoyed it (and the tea and fauncy pieces were just fine and dandy!).
