Waid Academy Rotary Debate
08 October 2014

Anstruther Rotary club would like to congratulate individual winners of the ‘Rotary Debate’ held at Waid Academy on Wednesday 8th October. It is a competition that has been going for well over 20 years now and is aimed at helping pupils gain in confidence and self-belief.

Pictured from Left to right standing are Emma Stewart, who won the category for ‘Best Vote’, Kyle Dillon for ‘Best 2nd Opposer’, Kirsty Rodger for ‘Best 2nd Proposer’ and Rosie Mackinnon for ‘Best 1st Proposer’. Seated are Callum Weir ‘Best 1st Opposer’ and Joseph Duncan, ‘Best Chairperson’. St Adrian House were declared overall winners, thus ending a run of six wins in a row by St David House. Pupils taking part in the competition and representing each of the school’s Houses were mostly from 5th and 6th years, but with team members from 3rd and 4th years too.

We would also like to thank the judges: Mrs K McCormack, Mr A Peddie and Mr D Mathie and the scrutineers: Mr A Lodge and Mr D Partington. A special thanks goes to The Rockies restaurant, Anstruther for providing refreshments, which were served by pupils.
