Richard Leigh Clay was born on 31 January 1898 in Oak Grove Chepstow, the second son of Henry Hastings Clay and Mabel née Williams. He was educated at Marlborough.
He was married aged 25 on 1 October 1923 in New York to (Anna) Flore Allen, aged 28. They had a daughter :-
Jane was born on 16 November 1927 in Oaks Grove Chepstow; was married on 16 May 1951 in St Arvans, Chepstow to Phillip (Arthur) Zorab, MB, MRCP, the son of Arthur Batoum Zorab, MB, of Southampton. They had four children:-
Mark born Q2, 1953 in Winchester
Timothy P. born Q2, 1954 in Southwark
Jamesborn Q2, 1957 in North Surrey
Marion J.born Q3, 1962 in North Surrey
Phillip Zorab died on 8 February 1983[1].
Richard died on 8 November 1986 at the age of 88;
(Anna) Flore née Allen.
Flore was born on 15 October 1895 in South Wales, the daughter of Sir Thomas William Allen JP.
