Brisbane at Largs were Honoured to be the first Preceptory & Priory in Ayrshire to receive a visitation from The Most Eminent & Reverend Grand Master James Robert Hodge GCT.

DGPA Watson Salver Golf Competition 2014

The sixth annual DGPA golf competition took place at St. Cuthbert Golf Club, Prestwick on Sunday June 1st with a record field of eighteen fraters plus one masonic guest.
In the battle for the Watson Salver, scoring had been good and very close with three fraters returning scores of 38 Stableford points. The name to be engraved on the Watson Salver this year is the same as in 2012 – Alan Buntain of Brisbane at Largs Preceptory.  

                                                              

Alan was presented with the trophy and accompanying prize by Peter Watson.

A most enjoyable day was had by all and the sum of £147 was raised for the Charity Fund.

Enthronement of the Grand Master

Ven. Prec. Andrew M Gourley, Fr. Alan Buntain, Fr. Sandy Connor, and Fr. William Kirkpatrick attended the enthronement of The Most Eminent and Reverend Grand Master James Robert Hodge, CLJ, CMLJ, FSA Scot, GCT in Freemasons Hall, Edinburgh, a most dignified and enjoyable ceremonial was enjoyed by all.

                                  

  Fr. Alan A. Buntain was one of the Grand Master’s acolytes, Rt. Em. Fr. Peter C. Watson P.P. KCT ( Hon. Member of Brisbane) & Ven. Prec. Andrew M. Gourley being two of the Grand Master’s escorts, Ven. Fra. George A.Y. Dickie was Piper to the Great Prior and Em. Fr. Denis Morton was acolyte to the Grand Prelate, Brisbane at Largs members taking a very active part on the days ceremonial.

Neil Gregory Games Night

The Neil Gregory Trophy was participated for by teams of two, at bowls, darts, pool and a quiz.

A most pleasurable evening was had by all, there were several entertaining moments in the games, and much hilarious laughter during the Quiz. After a very close competition, with three teams joint first place, it was a sudden death shout out at the bowls.

 The overall winners were Brisbane at Largs represented by Fr. William Kirkpatrick and Fr. Alan Buntain. The Neil Gregory Trophy was presented to the two winners by Ven. Preceptor Fr. Andrew M. Gourley.

             

Other Prize winners on the night were: Second overall Ayrshire District Priory represented by Rt. Em. D.G.P. Fr. John Turner and Rt. Em. Fr. Peter Watson K.C.T.

Winners of the Quiz were Hurlford Preceptory represented by Em. Fr. Robert Wilson and Fr. Tom Wood, (on lone for the evening) were presented with the Robert Lamb Trophy.

            

An additional prize was presented to the Preceptory with the best TEAM name, being Fr. James White & Fr. Andrew McIntyre with “Brisbane Bright Sparks” Both Fratres being electricians.

              

                A very pleasant buffet was enjoyed by everyone.

Mareschal Fr. Alan A. Buntain presented the Right Eminent District Grand Prior of Queensland and Papua New Guinea, Fr. John S. Ross to the Ven. Prec. Fr. A. M. Gourley, who conferred on Rt. Em. Fr. John S. Ross  Honorary Membership.                                   

                                                      

 The Ven. Prec. then addressed the new Honorary Member and welcomed him as a member of the Preceptory, presenting him with a Certificate of Honorary Membership and Brisbane at Largs jewel.

Ven. Prec. Fr. A. M. Gourley then asked the other four Travelling Knights from Queensland, Ven. Fr. James “Jim” Martin P.P. Dist. Grand Mareschal, Ven. Fr. William “Bill” Longrigg P.P. P.G.H., Ven. Fr. Edward “Ted” O’Neil P.P. P.G.H. and Ven. Fr. David “Jock” Lowson P.P., to except a Certificate of attendance and a Brisbane at Largs jewel.
