Why Brisbane at Largs?
The town of Largs has strong connection with Brisbane.
One of the most internationally famous natives of Largs was Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane, Bart, G.C.B., G.C.H.   who was born at Brisbane House, Largs on 23rd July 1773. A famous soldier and astronomer, he was appointed Governor of New South Wales in 1821, and the Brisbane River, as well as the capital city of Queensland, Australia, are name after him. He died on the 27th of January 1860 in the house where he was born, in Largs, aged 86. (Extract from “Freemasonry in Largs”)
