THE AUTHOR

Being a keen runner and walker, I was delighted to fulfil a longstanding ambition in 2010 by having a book published of some of my favourite off-road routes in the 1066 area. Walks in 1066 Country has been very well received both locally and further afield, and it has been very encouraging to receive all your kind comments on the website www.spanglefish.com/1066routes

Nick Brown lives at Westfield, near Hastings, and is a member of both Hastings Runners and Dulwich Runners. Aged 56, he has been running competitively and walking for 25 years. He won the local Beckley 10kms in both 2005 and 2006; the East Sussex Sunday Cross Country League (M40 category) in 2006/7; and has finished in the top 50 of the Hastings half-marathon (one of the most popular in the UK) on a number of occasions. He was also a member of the Dulwich Runners teams which won silver and bronze medals respectively in the 2012 SEAAs masters road relays and 2013 National road masters relays. As well as coaching Hastings Runners twice a week, he also set up the inaugural Rye Triathlon and organised the 1066 Relay (a team relay over the 1066 Walk route) in 2011 and 2012.
