Summer 2018
We've had a fabulous summer in the Highlands! Whilst 2018 has brought rather extreme weather to many parts of the world, here in Inverness we've been basking outside on long hot sunny days, breathing fresh air under clear blue skies. Of course, all that has changed and we are back to typical temperatures and rain on this slightly breezy August day.
Here are some photographs that I took over the long hot summer.
Inverness Highland Games
Inverness Highland Games
Here are my neighbours, Donald and Euan who play with the Inverness British Legion pipe band. We bump into each other at many local events over the summer. Donald then went on to impress visitors to the craft tent by playing them a few impromptu tunes.
That's me in the middle in my tartan skirt.
And finally here's Isla, my friend's daughter with an impressive haul of silverware for Highland Dancing at the games.
The Nairn Show
I won a prize for the best stall at the Nairn Show! What a great surprise! I didn't know that there was such a thing until the judges handed me a rosette and certificate. On my way home I stopped by to share my news with my framer, Tommy from Ness framers and his apprentice/nephew, Michael. They'd just finished a big batch of framed felts for me to display at the Edinburgh Fringe West End craft fair.
Belladrum Tartanheart Festival
I go to the Belladrum Tartan heart Festival every year. It's local, family friendly and it sells out every year. This year paloma Faith was our headliner. Here you see, on the left, a lady looking gorgeous wearing one of my fascinators. In the middle my helpers, Chloe and her boyfriend Lewis planning which band to see next and Amy, a regular caller at my stall, wherever I go. I'm gonna miss you when you head home back to Austin, Texas next month Amy! January update, Amy's still here!
