Workshops
I was taught to make felt by a colleague, Maggie, whilst working with people experiencing mental health problems. It's a really theraputic activity and very relaxing to do in company.
Last year I enjoyed taking workshops with brownies and with a group of lady writers from the USA, and, I continue to work with psychiatric patients. In the coming months I'm hoping to hold further workshops for beginners and for more experienced felters who want to learn to embellish their pictures with beads, silks & tweed strands
.
In 2014 I ran workshops at the Highland Family Heritage Festival in Dingwall and at Charleston Community complex in Inverness. Places are still available if you're interested in a nice relaxing day of theraptic felting in May 2016. These sessions will be held at the Charleston Community complex in Inverness. £5 deposit required to secure each place.
If you're holding an event and would like me to teach your participants how to felt, then please contact me to find out more.
DID YOU KNOW that in days gone by, Scottish drovers would pick up random pieces of wool to stuff inside their shoes to keep their feet warm, soft and dry. Now that's how to make a sock!
Youtube is a great source of useful information for novice felters. In particular, check out "Mongolian felt making" to see the craft being practised on a grand scale.
