January 2022 'WIDENING HORIZONS' Update
The last 2 years have been more than dificult as schooling has been disrupted around the world. Congratulations to al the teachers and students who have kept their focus on learning and improving skills.
We are now working on a new approach to Widening Horizons that is Jamaica led, using the experience of the British Council’s past support which engaged schools from around the world through the ‘Connecting Classrooms’ Global Schools Partnership, and the success of the past work of Learning Links International’s ‘Widening Horizons’ support initiative.
Cllr Romaine Morris, from Mocha in Clarendon has alread started to work on this idea - taking advantage of the improved internet connectivity and interest in international links.
Rotarian Dr Walter Leavell has also been working with May Pen Rotary Club on ideas - so we are all coming together to develop these ideas.

Sept 2019: After a break and the end of British Council support for Caribbean Schools links, we are now exploring ways to restart school links, starting with links between schools in Jamaica and Wales.
NB We are just updating this site and will make the information available in Welsh.

Birmingham and Wolverhampton Schools came together with Community activities and creative artistes for a workshop to explore how to develop links with Jamaican Schools.
WIDENING HORIZONS is an exciting and important project. The aim is to support the linking of schools in Jamaica with schools across UK. There are already a number of school links between UK and Jamaican schools, and these successful partnerships have inspired the development of the Widening Horizons project.
