The Bullitts, the musical project headed by British producer, singer and songwriter Jeymes Samuel, has lured two of hip-hop’s most elusive (not to mention lyrically revered) MCs on this new single, “They Die By Dawn.” Also featuring actress Lucy Liu, the song opens with a vintage Western-style movie score before unfolding into an epic lyrical showdown between Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) and Jay Electronica.
It’s the lead single from They Die By Dawn And Other Short Stories (out June 4), the accompanying album to Samuel’s recent short film, They Die By Dawn, which stars Michael K. Williams, Erykah Badu, Isaiah Washington, Jesse Williams and Rosario Dawson.
