New Music: M.I.A. “Matangi Mixtape”
It’s been a good few months since we’ve heard new music from M.I.A., but the West London rapper/singer has collaborated with Japanese fashion designer Kenzo to bring us an eight-plus-minute track entitled “Matangi Mixtape.” The lengthy tune, which samples traditional Indian melodies over heavy bass, was used for the pair’s fashion show in Paris yesterday. M.I.A.’s fourth studio album, Matangi, has been long delayed, but it was recently scheduled to release April 15. Let’s hope that date sticks.
