Reggae and dancehall is the main source of the day we will be played

Reggae music has long been in the heart and soul of millions of fans across the globe and is still firmly rooted several decades after the genre became an household name. Urban Islandz fans has been asking what are the top ten greatest Reggae songs of all time. But lets talk a little bit about Reggae.

Reggae is a genre that grew out of several other musical styles, including both traditional Jamaican music, including ska and mento, and American R&B. Reggae only came about as a distinct genre in the 1960s. Reggae was the direct decent of rock steady. Many Jamaicans had not liked the name rock steady, and through a different version of an old song Fat Man, the artist Morgan changed the beat and he created a creep with an organ and rhythm guitar. The music sounded like the word reggae, and that’s how the name took off.
