Based on the novels written by Maureen Jennings, the show features Yannick Bisson as the intrepid Detective William Murdoch, who, along with eager Constable George Crabtree (Jonny Harris) and Dr Julia Ogden (Helene Joy), goes about Toronto in the 1890's solving some of the city's most heinous crimes.

His superior, Inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig), an old school copper and former military man, sometimes feels his methods are a little "out there" but he recognises that, despite his intital reservations, Murdoch gets the job done.

In the fifth season of the show, we were introduced to a new coroner, Dr Emily Grace (Georgina Reilly), who joined the group to replace Dr Ogden who went into private practice. 

The show is currently in it's sixth season and the ratings keep going from strength to strength.  It's fans show no signs of waivering, with the very first fan conventions held in both the UK and Canada in 2012, with similar events planned for 2013.
