Liberal and Adogmatic Masonic Grand Lodge of Ireland
12 August 2010

The Grand Masonic Orient of Ireland is an organization, which is motivated by two great principles: the respect for a tradition inherited from the founders of freemasonry and the enlightenment and the search for progress for the improvement of Mankind and Society and especially the individual mason.
We are lead by the principals:
Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Secularity, Solidarity, absolute freedom of conscience, tolerance, democracy and human rights.
Freemasonry as one of the world’s oldest fraternal societies, is a society of men and women concerned with moral and spiritual values. Its members are taught its precepts, which follow ancient forms, and use stonemasons’ customs and tools as allegorical and symbolic guides.
Freemasonry instils in its members an ethical approach to life: it seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others, commitment in the community, support of art and culture, social involvement, the fight for democratic values of a Republic and the brotherhood and sisterhood of all mankind.
The Age of Enlightenment had its roots in the Masonic lodges of the early eighteenth century. The concept of Masonic Light and the ideals put forth by philosophers such as Thomas Jefferson and Voltaire are one and the same. The same applies to the ideals of Masons such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and the Marquis de Lafayette. It was these ideals that gave birth to the modern western world. Through these ideals we want to overcome dogma, religious bias and prejudice on all levels of society.

Our Masonic lineage can be traced back through the Grand Orient of France to the Grand Lodge of England that was first established in 1717.
The fraternal aspects of Freemasonry are to be found in its ancient rituals and festivities. The rituals are a way to connect the past with the present and future. Since 1717 every Mason has been initiated into the fraternity in the same way.

The Grand Masonic Orient of Ireland promotes continuing education in science, natural philosophy, ethics, humanism, the environment. It also encourages the use of critical thinking, antrophosophy and other related subjects. Many lodge meetings are specifically dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and instruction.

Grand Orient of Ireland Freemasonry is...
  • Open to believers and non-believers alike.
  • Open to both men and women of all races, who are of high moral character and  intellectual standard
  • Actively promoting liberty, equality, fraternity and human rights around the globe
  • Opposed to any dogma of any kind and detrimental influence of religiousor political  groups.
Masonry needs reform, especially in Ireland. The desire for the creation of a Grand Orient of Ireland was felt by a number of Masons concerned about apparent stagnation of our brotherhood, strong religious overtones and a drifting away from basic Masonic principals.
This is the reason why there is no other alternative than the Grand Masonic Orient of Ireland
