Welcome to the Witness Choir.

The original Witness choir first began meeting during 1980, the inspiration and enthusiasm of one person in Willington who was prepared to involve other like-minded people. The new choir presented a musical called 'The Witness' as its first ever production. Many presentations were made – in churches, prisons and other community buildings. This success led to the establishment of the choir's name, 'Witness Choir' Throughout its life the choir has numbered, on average, some 35 singers. Two significant periods of growth saw new members from Darlington and Derwentside. These people commenced in 1999 in preparation for a series of concerts involving the Christian Aid musical, 'Feast of Life'. Latterly membership has been increased through people joining us from all parts of County Durham. The Witness choir show their faith by singing. Although we are an ecumenical choir we are open to all and all abilities (no auditions necessary) Our repertoire includes songs that inspire, bring comfort and enjoyment to our audiences. We enjoy singing secular songs as well as musical drama where we portray gospel themes. Throughout the years, choir members have discovered and developed new talents for solo singing, drama and dramatic reading. This added enrichment of choral song is much valued. We are at home performing in local communities, as well as in churches. We are always looking for new venues to sing in, and we welcome new people to join us.

if you are interested in us giving a Concert,  or leading a Worship Service for you, or better still, joining the choir if you live in the Durham area, please use the contact page to send us an email.
