Fear and horror swept through the very soul of the Wednesday Club this week, when decorated chairman Mr Eric Tobermory Patricia Johnson was struck down with a mystery illness. This sudden and unexplained emergency was brought to the attention of local medical teams, who began isolation protocols in ernest, ( Ernest didn't seem to mind).
Even The World Health Team were put on full alert over worries of a full blow pandemic. Panic was avoided when a friend of Mr Johnson told waiting members of the press that as far as he knew the patient had a long standing condition called ' Softarseitus ' , which would often flare up when it was his turn to get a round of drinks in.
And with the first Wednesday Club meeting of 2016 fast approaching, it was obvious to him that it was purely an exacerbation of said affliction.
Eric has been inundated with get back to work cards and gifts from well wishing members of the club. They had a whip round to purchase a card from Home Bargains which seemed very fitting for a unique man like Eric. A least ten signitures were secured , including some with joined up writing.
Thankfully the members were able to rally themselves at this challenging and difficult time, and incredibly they went on to record the clubs highest attendance for a single meeting, with standing room only.
